Katie Ciardi Shirley

We hope your proms and school formals are among your best memories. They were among the happiest times during Katie Shirley’s short life. They were an opportunity to dress up in beautiful gowns - and dance the night away. Katie believed that everyone should feel like a princess, at least for one day. Will you join us in keeping that joyful spirit alive through a special projects in Katie’s memory?

Katherine (Katie) Ciardi
5/17/89 - 6/26/07

Hard to believe it's now two years since you left us so suddenly, along with your dear friends Bailey, Hannah, Meredith and Sara. We miss your sparkling blue eyes, bright smile, great laugh, sense of style and the houseful of music you always had playing. Our lives were especially blessed to have you with us for eighteen years, and forever changed by your absence. You are deeply loved and missed by your family and friends who are left behind to wonder what might have been. You touched more lives than you can ever imagine in your short time among us.

Our love forever, Mom and Dad

Katie's Favorite Quotes - Great Words to Live By
(Katie selected the quotes below 6 weeks before her high school graduation - quotes were to be displayed at her graduation party)

"Life doesn't give you the people you want; it gives you the people you need, to help you, to hurt you, to love you, to leave you, to make you the person you were meant to be."

"The only rule is don't be b.o.r.i.n.g...dress cute wherever you go, life is too short to blend in."

"Wouldn't life be perfect if sweatpants were sexy, Monday mornings were fun, junk food didn't make you fat, girls didn't cause drama, boys weren't so confusing, nothing was regrettable, you didn't have to lose the people you love, friendships didn't fade and goodbyes only meant 'till tomorrows."

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes and can be out of control.
At times, I'm hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worse, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." -Marilyn Monroe

"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones that don't.
Believe that everything happens for a reason.
If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it."
